That Hair!!

This is a photo of my mom in high school.  Most of the photos I have of my mom I got after her death in 2007.  My mom lost most of our photos somewhere in all the moves we made, but I can remember looking at this when I was around 12 thinking my mom was wearing the most ugly hat I had ever seen.  Imagine my surprise to find out that it was her hair and not a hat.  This is not to say that I have not had my fair share of bad hair decisions, and looking at it now I think it is adorable.  But at 12 – yeah I just thought it was an ugly hat.

As you can see here in this photo – yes I made bad hair decisions – and trust me this is not the worst of them!!  This was my “home perm” that I convinced my mom to give me right before starting high school.  Because being a freshman was not going to be bad enough for a girl in the early 80 who was a little chunky.  I felt I should also have fried kinda curly hair.  Joy to me.  But in the end it is just hair and when you mess it up too badly, just cut it all off and start over.

And yet another big hair photo – this is my other mom Melanie and wow, aqua net stockholders must have loved her!!  I loved her to pieces until the day she passed away I 2008 but dang sometimes you gotta wonder “What were you thinking?”

Anyway, going to be going through photos and working on stories that go with them for this blog so be on the lookout – if you are a family member you might find yourself spotlighted Smile but never without your permission of course.

Until next time,

Peace and luv to all

Welcome to Kentucky Rain

Hello all,

This is my first attempt at something family story oriented.  First off, the name, Kentucky Rain.  My family on both my mother's side and my father's side (at least the Johnson and Whitehouse lines) have been in Kentucky since Kentucky came into existence as a territory/state and I have always felt that all the various lines that are now in existence are like raindrops falling from God.  If you look at a descendant chart it looks like a cloud with rain falling from it (at least to me).  I hope that this blog will be filled with family stories as well as my own stories.  I am going to try to get all my various cousins and family members to contribute stories as well.  I would also like to print out copies for the older generation of the family that might not be so computer oriented like monthly and send it to them in the mail.  Everyone loves getting mail that is not a bill right??

Well, that is the basic introduction to the blog.  I hope you will enjoy in for a long time into the future.

Peace and Luv to all
